SJ52 FUG

Green Volkswagen Passat

  • SJ52 FUG is an extremely tatty green Volkswagen Passat Estate which appeared at the top of Hollingbury Crescent in November 2025 and has not moved since.

  • Six weeks on (at the time of writing), it remains exactly where it was first left - unmoved, unmaintained, and clearly unwanted by its owner.

  • This is not the first time SJ52 FUG has been left in Hollingdean; residents recall it being kept here on and off for several years, often left unmoved for weeks and months at a time. But, this most recent period has drawn the highest number of comments from residents.

  • The car is known to belong to a resident of the adjoining Controlled Parking Zone G (Hollingbury Road).

  • It is incredibly common for residents of Hollingbury Road, in particular, to leave their unwanted cars in Hollingdean, more often than not on Hollingbury Crescent, as close as they can possibly get to their homes in the CPZ.

  • Rather than keeping this vehicle where they live and paying for a resident permit like everyone else, the owner has chosen to dump it in Hollingdean instead, taking advantage of the area’s current lack of restrictions.

  • The car’s condition is worsening by the week: faded paintwork, broken and taped-up lights, damaged panels, and an overall appearance that makes it look abandoned.

  • For those who live nearby, it is more than an eyesore, it is a space lost indefinitely to someone who has no connection to Hollingdean, one more example of how neighbouring zone residents shift their parking burden onto our streets and leave it for others to live with.
