RO10 WRP
Silver Citroen C1
Residents were dismayed to see this silver Citroen appear in Hollingdean, parked squarely between two parking spaces (taking up both) just days before the Zone J resident parking permit displayed in its windscreen expired. It has not moved once since.
It is very clear that this is yet another non-resident vehicle from the neighbouring permit zone (Fiveways), now using Hollingdean as a long-term dumping ground, rather than the owner renewing their existing permit for the controlled zone they live in.
This behaviour is incredibly common: as soon as the permit expires, the car is offloaded into Hollingdean, where there are no restrictions, and left indefinitely.
The vehicle’s placement - straddling two spaces - only adds insult to injury. Not only is it occupying valuable space meant for local residents, but it is actively reducing the number of usable spaces on an already crowded street. This kind of selfish and thoughtless parking is precisely what fuels the frustration of those who live here and are forced to compete for limited space on a daily basis.
Like so many others, R010 WRP represents the wider issue of permit displacement. Instead of taking responsibility for their own vehicle and renewing their permit, the owner has shifted that burden onto the residents of Hollingdean, further contributing to the daily congestion, noise, and lack of access that local residents face.
