KV60 EVX
Black Toyota Verso
Residents began to note that the owner of KV60 EVX was parking it in Hollingdean and then walking back to their home in Zone G in the late spring of 2024.
This is yet another non-resident, from the adjoining residents permit zone, who has opted to use the 'free' parking in Hollingdean to store their vehicle, rather than buying themselves a permit for the area they have chosen to live in.
This is one of quite literally hundreds of non-resident vehicles that use Hollingdean for 'free' parking. This is especially prevalent in the Westernmost corner of Hollingdean, up against Zone G (Hollingbury Road) and Zone J (Fiveways), where non-residents use our streets as part of their commute, as an alternative to buying permits for the area in which they live, or for their visitors, or simply as a place to dump rotting, unwanted and unloved vehicles.
This misuse of our neighbourhoods has far wider-reaching impacts than simply reducing parking spaces for residents; it leads to a notable increase in traffic, noise, pollution, and congestion. Using Hollingdean like this has a demonstrable and significant impact on the residents who live here and could simply be resolved by these owners parking their own vehicles at their own homes.
After two months of leaving their car in Hollingdean, residents were pleased to report that the car now had a valid resident permit for the owner's home in Zone G.
For a year, this car was seen regularly parked at the owner's residence on Hollingbury Road. However, in July 2025 it again started appearing back in Hollingdean instead - the owners clearly deciding to use our streets for free parking again instead of renewing their permit.
This is a regular occurrence with displaced vehicles in Hololingdean. Even those cases where the owner does eventually obtain a valid permit for it and takes it away from Hollingdean often reappear again six months or a year later when that permit expires.
