Hollingdean Parking

HV60 DYO

Silver Citroen C1

  • HV60 DYO is a small silver Citroën that residents believe belongs to a student living in the Hollingbury Road/Fiveways area.

  • It is a familiar sight at the top of Hollingbury Crescent, always parked as close to Fiveways as possible, in an area of Hollingdean already heaving with non-resident vehicles doing exactly the same thing.

  • Most of the time, the car doesn’t move at all. On the rare occasions it does, usually over a weekend, it is simply returned to the very same spot. For residents, this means one of the most pressured corners of Hollingdean remains clogged up almost permanently, despite the driver having no connection to the area.

  • It is precisely this kind of behaviour that makes the Westernmost corner one of the hardest areas to park in Hollingdean. Every car like HV60 DYO adds to the congestion, forces residents further from their homes, and ramps up the noise and traffic from drivers circling for space.

  • The owner could keep their car at their actual residence by paying for a resident's permit. Instead, they choose the selfish option: leaving it here to suit themselves, while the people of Hollingdean carry the cost.
