EY55 YOC
Green Ford Transit
This large works vehicle belongs to A&J Construction who have no residential connection with the local area, nor appear to be working on a property nearby.
Residents report that this works vehicle has been left on Stanmer Park Road, and was not moved for several months.
The rear bed of the vehicle was left full of various items of building waste, untethered, which then blew into the road and surrounding properties when the weather was windy. It also appeared that residents had decided to use it for their discarded Christmas trees.
Residents also report that another A&J Construction branded company vehicle occasionally parked alongside it (double parking and blocking traffic) whilst workmen moved items from one vehicle to the other.
It has been suggested that the construction company may have simply been using this vehicle for storage.
EY55 YOC was eventually removed from Stanmer Park Road in late-January 2023, having been left there since the previous summer (a conservative guess at five or six months). At the time it was moved, it is reported that it had been left so long the battery had gone completely flat, and eventually required jump-starting to get it moving again.
One of the issues Hollingdean particularly experiences is large works vehicles like this, where drivers use the unrestricted parking here to store their vehicles (whereas the residential permit zones have a size restriction that vehicles like this would be too large for).
This adds additional pressure to parking for local residents, particularly as vehicles of this size take up significantly more space on the road, whilst blocking visibility.
