Blue Ford Transit

• YP68 VUD is an extremely large, extended-wheelbase Ford Transit van which has been converted to be used as a school bus

• It is owned by Brighton College.

• Since March of 2024, residents have noticed that after school drop-off time, the van gets parked in Hollingdean - often on Upper Hollingdean Road but also as far as the North side of the Dip.

• The driver is seen locking the van and walking away, before returning again to drive the van away shortly before school ends.

• It is understood that Brighton College is using Hollingdean as a place to store (or 'dump') their school busses for free during the school day rather than making arrangements to store their vehicles properly.

• This has been made particularly stressful for local residents as not only is this a private school profiting from the 'free' parking in Hollingdean, but it is also often left parked particularly awfully.

• In the photographs provided, it can be seen parked partially blocking the double-yellow lines of the junction with Hollingbury Road. This is on a key walking route and crossing point for the local schools (Downs Infants and Downs Juniors) and caused significant problems for the young children and parents alike. Unable to see to cross the road safely because Brighton College had dumped their massive van illegally on the junction and blocked the visibility.

• We have received details and photographs of a number of other instances where this van has been left similarly around Hollingdean. We intend to provide further examples as soon as we can verify them.
