YL64 AFN

Grey Skoda Yeti

  • YL64 AFN first started receiving significant reports from our residents in mid-December 2024. It immediately raised concerns among residents when it was left completely unmoved for the entire Christmas and New Year period.

  • Despite not belonging to a local resident, it occupied valuable space for weeks, reinforcing the pattern of non-residents using Hollingdean as a free parking site.

  • It is believed that the vehicle belongs to a regular visitor of, or a resident in the neighbouring controlled parking zone (in Fiveways on Hollingbury Park Avenue).

  • Rather than obtaining a valid visitor permit for the area they are actually staying in, the owner instead chooses to leave their car for 'free' in Hollingdean, taking up space that should be available for those who live here.

  • Since Christmas, the pattern has become somewhat predictable: YL64 AFN often arrives on a Friday afternoon and remains untouched for the entire weekend before disappearing again during the following Monday or Tuesday.

  • Over Easter, it arrived and remained unmoved for the entire long weekend and following week.

  • This routine makes it clear that Hollingdean is being treated as a long-term, unpaid car park for visitors who have no connection to the area beyond their own convenience.

  • The presence of cars like this only worsens the already limited parking options for actual residents, forcing them to park further away from their own homes. Hollingdean’s streets should not be an overflow parking solution for visitors who refuse to use the proper permit system that they have chosen to live in. This Skoda is yet another example of exactly that happening.
