Green Nissan Micra
Similar to another non-resident car identified by our neighbours, this Nissan is poorly maintained, unloved, rarely driven, and semi-abandoned here in Hollingdean by its owners, despite them not living at all locally,
According to this car's MOT history, it is driven an extremely small number of miles each year, whilst the owners have been using Hollingdean for 'free' parking for many years, leaving it unmoved often for many months at a time whilst it falls into significant disrepair.
Over the winter of 2023 - 2024 it was left at the bottom of Stanmer Park Road, and did not move at all until the following June (more than six months). At that point, it moved for a single day, and has been on Hollingbury Crescent instead (again unmoved), ever since.
Aside from the issues surrounding selfish owners taking away rare resources (parking spaces) from the people who live here, vehicles which get left in this sort of condition for extended periods of time inevitably begin to attract attention and vandalism. This brings petty crime onto directly our streets, whilst the owners live elsewhere and simply do not seem to care.
This is a cycle of abandoned and partially abandoned cars we have seen documented in Hollingdean many times (particularly with camper vans), and is just as true of this particular vehicle.
Residents are confused about cars like this: if the owner cares so little, and uses the car so infrequently, why do they not just scrap it instead of leaving it as a rotting eyesore on our streets instead?
