Blue Audi TT
This blue Audi TT has become a daily source of frustration for residents, not just because of its use of Hollingdean for free commuter parking, but because of the significant noise disturbance it brings with it.
The car is believed to be used by a commuter who arrives early each morning (often before 7am), parking it as close to Fiveways as they are able. Rather than shutting off the engine and leaving quietly, the female driver then sits in the car for extended periods with the engine running, scrolling on her phone while the vehicle’s modified exhaust rumbles through the street.
The exhaust is extremely loud, and the combination of early arrival and prolonged idling has repeatedly woken up nearby residents, even through closed windows. This has become a regular occurrence, reported by several households over several months.
As with so many others, this vehicle has no link to Hollingdean beyond the absence of parking restrictions. It is a classic case of a commuter exploiting the area for free daily parking, while contributing nothing to the community and actively disrupting the lives of those who live here.
The situation is made worse by the fact that the issue is not limited to lost parking space, it is also a quality-of-life problem. Early morning engine noise, unnecessary idling, and thoughtless behaviour are all part of the pattern residents are forced to endure because this driver (and hundreds of others) don't have the basic wherewithal to go about their day without imposing themselves on our neighbours.
