Hollingdean Parking

RK70 MUY

Black Audi Q2

  • RK70 MUY is a non-resident Audi Q2 that turned up on Roedale Road in Hollingdean one September night.

  • The car was found left in a very clearly marked disabled bay, with no blue badge on display and no apparent reason for it to be parked there other than sheer selfishness. There is no excuse for this - the markings for the space are extremely new and obvious.

  • Despite being ticketed by the council, the vehicle did not move for some time, leaving the bay blocked and the disabled resident unable to use it.

  • By taking up that space, the car owner directly prevented the disabled resident it was intended for from being able to park outside their own home.

  • Residents were quick to highlight just how unfair and inconsiderate this was, and how much harder it made daily life for someone who relies on that bay.

  • While this vehicle may not (yet) be a regular presence, the incident is telling. It shows the lengths to which some non-resident drivers will go in order to secure a 'free' space in Hollingdean, regardless of who it inconveniences.

  • When disabled bays are treated as fair game, it shows just how bad the parking pressures have become, and how little respect some outsiders have for the people who live here.
