Hollingdean Parking

Black Hyundai i10

  • At the time of publishing, several residents had raised concerns about this little Hyundai. It is parked at the top of Upper Hollingdean Road and had not moved for the entire summer. One resident reckoned at least six or seven months.

  • The vehicle displays an expired Residents Parking Permit from Zone U - the Coombe Road area and a short drive or walk away in the adjoining permit zone.

  • It is not unreasonable to assume, therefore, that the owner is simply using Hollingdean to store their vehicle, rather than renewing their parking permit.

  • This is not unusual for the area. In fact, there are literally hundreds of vehicles parked in the 'free' parking in Hollingdean, whilst the owner lives elsewhere. Many of them still display expired permits from their owner's area, as this Hyundai does.

  • What this means is that the local residents of Hollingdean (and particularly those in the areas directly adjoining other controlled parking zones) are left to deal with increased traffic, noise, pollution, and congestion. All the while, residents struggle to find parking for their own vehicles.
