Hollingdean Parking

LM63 KMK

Black Mercedes C Class

  • LM63 KMK is the third vehicle known to be used by the same non-resident owner responsible for BG54 JHU (a white Volkswagen T-Sporter) and AY66 VPL (a red Honda Civic). None of these vehicles belong to a Hollingdean resident, yet all are used regularly to occupy street space here, effectively blocking local residents from being able to park in their own neighbourhood.

  • As with the Honda, the owner arrives early in the morning and swaps this grey Mercedes into the space previously occupied by the Green Timber Trees works van, BG54 JHU. They then leave Hollingdean for the day, returning in the evening to reverse the process by removing the Mercedes and parking the van back in its place.

  • This practice is deliberate and calculated. The owner cycles through their vehicles solely to keep the same space reserved for themselves, denying access to local residents at all times. It is a blatant and selfish misuse of public street space, carried out daily by someone who does not live here, but who treats Hollingdean as their personal car park.

  • Residents also report that when the Mercedes is used instead of the Honda, it is often left positioned awkwardly - angled into tight spaces, overhanging junctions, or straddling gaps between other vehicles - deliberately ensuring that no one else can use the space intended for 'their' van.

  • This misuse of Hollingdean is part of a wider and growing problem, particularly in the westernmost corner of the neighbourhood, up against Zones G and J. Here, non-residents like the owner of LM63 KMK routinely exploit the lack of parking restrictions to store work vans, personal vehicles, and unwanted cars at the direct expense of those who actually live here.

  • The impact goes far beyond lost parking. It increases daily traffic pressure, noise, and pollution, while creating unnecessary congestion on already narrow residential streets. Hollingdean’s streets are for its residents, not for non-residents and non-local businesses seeking to avoid permits and use our community as a dumping ground for their personal fleet of vehicles.
