HR19 FYW
Black Skoda Octavia
HR19 FYW is a non-resident vehicle regularly left in Hollingdean for long periods of time, often over weekends or even unmoved for weeks at a stretch.
This large black Skoda estate is always parked as close as the driver can manage to Fiveways (where they are seen to walk to after leaving the car), adding to the already heavy congestion in one of the most overcrowded corners of Hollingdean.
As with so many other non-resident vehicles, the owner is using Hollingdean as a free parking solution rather than getting themselves a permit for the controlled parking zone they live in or regularly visit.
The car’s extended stays, without movement, strongly suggest it is being stored here long-term and is only used very occasionally. This contributes to the ongoing problem of displacement, where residents of neighbouring areas push their parking burden onto Hollingdean streets.
Vehicles like HR19 FYW reduce the availability of parking for actual residents, forcing many to park further from their homes or risk tickets for entering neighbouring controlled zones. It is yet another example of how the lack of restrictions in Hollingdean is routinely exploited to the detriment of the people who live here.
