Hollingdean Parking

HN54 WYB

Yellow Mercedes Sprinter

  • This very large, poorly maintained works vehicle is recognised by residents as being kept day-to-day in Hollingdean.

  • This belongs to a local landscaping company called 'BAMBO Landscaping & Gardening'.

  • The owner does not live in Hollingdean but nearly a mile away on Osbourne Road, in resident parking Zone F. They do - however - use Hollingdean as a convenient place to dump their vehicle whenever not in use.

  • This is a large and extremely poorly-kept vehicle, often with loose loads in the rear bed (which then blows across the area when windy).

  • As with BG54 JHU, the dimensions of this particular vehicle fall well within those permitted by Brighton Council for a permit within the owner's permit area. We can - therefore - reasonably assume that this owner chooses to dump their vehicle in Hollingdean out of sheer selfishness.

  • During the Christmas period of 2024 in particular, several residents commented on the fact that it was left unmoved for several weeks, with two flat tyres alongside BG54 JHU (another very similar, non-resident landscaping vehicle).

  • That particular stretch of road in Hollingdean became long-term storage for these unwanted and unloved vehicles (GY10 UYU being another in long-term storage there), leaving local residents not only with these massive eye-sores on their doorstep, but also totally unable to park anywhere near their own homes.

  • The use of Hollingdean in this manner by non-residents adds significantly to the pressures the residents experience in an already very congested part of Hollingdean. Here, residents struggle to find available parking for their own personal vehicles or for those of their visitors because vehicles like this one are dumped here instead.
