Blue Volkswagen Tiguan
This Volkswagen Tiguan is another well-recognised, non-resident, vehicle which uses Hollingdean for 'free' parking whilst the driver spends their day elsewhere.
It is believed that this vehicle belongs to an individual working within one of the controlled parking zones, opting to use Hollingdean to park rather than to use one of the many available Pay and Display bays.
The driver of this vehicle has been described by several residents as being particularly inconsiderate, parking on the pavement or impeding driveways.
They have also been noted as driving particularly aggressively, often speeding through our neighbourhoods, seen using their phone whilst driving, and - on more than one occasion - honking at pedestrians attempting to cross the road ahead of them.
As the driver continues their journey on foot towards Fiveways, they tend to park as close as they can achieve to that area, adding significant additional congestion to an already highly overcrowded corner of the ward around Hollingbury Crescent, Adams Close, and Stanmer Park Road.
The driver’s attitude towards the neighbourhood was made particularly clear in March, when Hollingbury Crescent was closed for essential Southern Water works. Rather than accept that the road was temporarily unavailable and park elsewhere, the driver left their car for the day parked in amongst the active roadworks. In order to do so, they drove past and around five separate road closure and parking suspended signs, and got out of their car to move cones out of their way.
This forces the residents who actually live here to park even further away from their own homes.
