GU71 FXX
Grey Toyota Aygo
Hollingdean residents have noticed and been sporadically reporting GU71 FXX as a known non-resident commuter vehicle since the start of 2024.
It is recognised that the owner of this vehicle does not live nor work in Hollingean. They are simply using Hollingdean as a 'free' place to park their vehicle, arriving every weekday morning and leaving again mid-evening.
The owner, in fact, appears to be a member of staff for a local nursery in Fiveways. What makes this more aggravating for the local residents is that the nursery is given several parking permits for their staff to use in the area where the nursery is based. Instead of using them, several of their staff are using our streets as an overflow carpark.
Using Hollingdean as part of non-resident's commutes into Brighton is incredibly common and removes significant amounts of on-street parking for local residents. This also leads to increased noise, pollution, and congestion, particularly for those residents nearest the bus routes on Ditchling Road.
In this specific instance, the driver is also recognised for behaving particularly poorly, using their horn to cut across on-coming traffic, and parking partially across driveways and junctions rather than parking a little further away from Fiveways.
