Hollingdean Parking

GJ59 NTG

Silver Vauxhall Meriva

  • This Vauxhall Meriva is another non-resident vehicle (still displaying an expired resident's parking permit from Zone M).

  • Residents report that GJ59 NHG appeared, parked in Hollingdean on the 19th May 2024 - two days after the displayed permit expired. It has not moved at all since (at the time of writing - nearly two months).

  • Residents who saw the driver report seeing them leave the car to then catch a bus from Ditchling Road. Given that Zone M covers the Brunswick and Adelaide area of Hove, the assumption is that the owner has opted to store their unwanted vehicle for a long time in the 'free' parking of Hollingdean rather than renew their resident's permit further.

  • This is another classic case of displacement parking: residents who live within the controlled parking zones and infrequently use their vehicle, opt to use our streets for free parking.

  • This is happening on a huge scale across the area, placing significant and unnecessary pressure on the local residents who are left to put up with the additional traffic, noise, congestion, and pollution that using our area in this manner causes.
