G167 WGX
Beig Peugeot Hymer
G167 WGX is a vast, ageing Peugeot Hymer camper van which appeared in Hollingdean during the summer of 2025, promptly raising alarm amongst local residents due to its sheer size, its positioning, and its suspected use as a temporary dwelling.
The vehicle was parked directly on a junction, straddling double yellow lines and severely blocking visibility for both drivers and pedestrians. This particular location is part of a key walking route for local primary school children, which made its placement not just inconsiderate but actively dangerous.
Despite its size and the hazard it posed, the van remained there for well over a week without moving.
Residents also reported concern where there were clear signs that the vehicle was being lived in. Curtains remained drawn, lights were observed on inside, and most troubling of all, residents discovered what was believed to be human waste left on the pavement beside it.
Sadly, this is far from an isolated case. It is extremely common for camper vans like this to appear in Hollingdean during the summer months, particularly these much larger ones which otherwise may not fit into local camp sites.
In this way, non-resident tourists use the area as a free, unrestricted alternative to formal campsites or controlled parking zones. G167 WGX is simply the latest and most egregious recent example, turning our residential streets into an impromptu encampment, obstructing junctions, and putting local health, safety, and access at risk.
