EX10 VRU
Silver Ford Transit
EX10 VRU is a large commercial van in a poor state of repair and has been reported by multiple residents over several years.
The driver is not a Hollingdean resident (living around the corner on Hollingbury Park Avenue - in Zone F), but uses Hollingdean to park their van full-time; it is kept here more or less whenever it is not in use. This is commonly every weekday evening and unmoved throughout weekends.
This also means the van will often not move at all for several weeks at a time during holiday periods.
The vehicle displays two expired trader permits.
Given that the driver lives towards Fiveways, he always attempts to park EX10 VRU as close as he possibly can to the border with Zone G and Zone F, using whatever limited available space is available in the very congested area on the West edge of Hollingdean; around Hollingbury Crescent, Adams Close, and Stanmer Park Road.
Residents often witness this van parked extremely poorly; overlapping disabled bays, double-yellows, and very frequently found mounted onto the curb, to the extent that pushchairs or wheelchair users would struggle to pass on the pavement.
We have also received multiple reports of extremely aggressive driving from this vehicle driver: repeated use of the horn, and erratic driving against oncoming traffic in order to park.
Four separate reports of residents witnessing this vehicle colliding with parked cars, in one instance breaking another car's headlight. Each time, the driver did not appear to notice or care. They simply walked away.
Frustratingly for residents, this same driver also owns FJ68 WHX, a grey Mercedes C-Class, which he also chooses to keep in Hollingdean instead of obtaining a permit for it.
Residents have reported that this leads to situations in which the driver deliberately positions one or the other vehicle so that it blocks anyone else from parking nearby until they return. At the point that they return, they get out and move it again to make space so that they can keep both their vehicles together on our streets. Where they do not live.
