Hollingdean Parking

CK25 OUS

White Citroen Dispatch

  • CK25 OUS is a large, commercial, white Citroën Dispatch van belonging to Cardo Group, and is another vehicle that has been using Hollingdean for free parking on a near-daily basis since the start of the year.

  • The driver is understood to live in one of the adjoining zones towards Fiveways and consistently parks as close to home as he can possibly manage. In practice, that means Hollingbury Crescent, most often in the already highly congested corner nearest Fiveways.

  • Residents regularly report this van left immediately on the junction, partially over the double yellow lines, and in positions that block visibility through the bend for both drivers and pedestrians.

  • As a large commercial vehicle, it is especially intrusive in this location. It takes up a disproportionate amount of road space, worsens an already difficult pinch point, and adds to the sense that Hollingdean is being treated as a dumping ground for work vehicles from outside the area.

  • The driver’s attitude towards the neighbourhood was made particularly clear in March, when Hollingbury Crescent was closed for essential Southern Water works. Rather than accept that the road was temporarily unavailable and park elsewhere, he reportedly moved the cones himself so that he could continue leaving the van there, quite literally leaving it overnight within the roadworks.

  • That goes beyond ordinary selfishness. It shows a level of entitlement that residents know all too well: the belief that Hollingdean’s streets, its junctions, and even its active roadworks exist purely for the convenience of people who do not live here.
