AK10 VGZ
White Land Rover Freelander
AK10 VGZ has become a familiar sight to residents in the western corner of Hollingdean, though not in a good way. This large white Land Rover is owned by a resident of Zone G on Hollingbury Road. Instead of obtaining a permit and parking it outside their own home, it is left here for weeks at a time.
The pattern is predictable: the car appears in Hollingdean, takes up valuable space, and then simply sits. Some residents recall it being in the same position for the better part of a month, unmoved. Then, without warning, it will vanish for a short while before inevitably returning to wherever in Hollingdean they are able to park it closest to their own home.
This is not an isolated case. The streets near the Zone G boundary are a magnet for vehicles like this, kept here to avoid the cost or effort of a parking permit. The result is that residents are left circling for spaces near their own homes while non-residents treat Hollingdean as an extension of their driveway.
With the size of the Freelander, the problem is compounded: it occupies more road space than a small car, and when left for extended periods, it reduces the already limited availability even further. The message it sends is clear: our neighbourhood is being used as free long-term storage, with little consideration for the people who live here.
